Since many of my juniors from Sekolah Menengah Sains Lahad Datu had finished their SPM a few weeks ago, I think this is a good time for me to write an entry about both university and matriculation life. This is for the guide for my fellow juniors so they can get the vision about how they are going to live their life when they enter university or matriculation college next year...
Why do I think I should write this entry? This is because, I had tasted every single life a student who had finished their SPM will experienced. I had been through the stage of PLKN, I had been through the stage of taking the driving license, I had been studying in a matriculation, and now a university student. All of those, in just one year. So, to share the experience is what I can do to help the juniors who will be going through all of those, maybe not all of them like me, but some of it. Especially about university and matriculation life.
For this entry... I'm going to talk about matriculation life...
Matriculation Life
Matriculation. Majority students in my school do think that entering a matriculation college is something they should be ashamed of since they think matriculation is lower than foundation programs since programs like foundation takes place in the university while matriculation is just a college. But what they need to know, it's just the same because these programs; matriculation and foundation, is actually pra-U that can only give the ticket to take degree later on.
About the life in matriculation, you will basically start with orientation program for a week. Honestly, orientation will always be the shittiest moment in your life but just face it. It's only for a week and after that, you're free from that kind of freaking weird boring activity. Orientation will probably be fill with so many talks from the college themselves. It gives you the information that you need for the whole year of your study. It may be boring, but don't worry, fun activities are always there for you. It can even make you feel stupid to do those activities. Trust me, when it's over, you are TOTALLY going to miss that cute stupid but fun moments.

You will be given classes according to lecture groups and tutorial groups. I'm not going to explain this. You won't be able to understand until you experienced how the system is. About the timetable, seriously, matriculation timetable is no difference than a school timetable. Tutorial classes and lectures are both one hour while lab session for science students will be for 2 hours. The only thing that can make you happy is, recesses are also given about an hour for you. Smile all you want.
But the main reason why the science students are always pissed off with account students is that the account students have less classes and their class may start late, and end earlier than the science students. This is due to their timetable is a bit loose because they have no lab session for 2 hours like the science students.
In terms of what you are going to wear, just don't dream to wear jeans and clothes that you wear to the town yet, since matriculation's rule states that students should wear formal dress code to classes. Except for night classes that your lecturer wants to make for their additional class. You must wear tie and shoes to class. But don't worry, you can use any types of kemeja that you want; from the ugly and cheap to the trendiest and expensive. There are no rules that said you cannot wear fashionable kemeja. Your style is up to you, as long as it has kemeja and tie. Girls also need to wear formal wear like blouse and skirt or even baju kurung. As I said, the type of fashion you want to choose, just assume it negligible.
But during night class, additional night class, you are free to wear anything. Round neck, collar, jeans, leggings, as long as it is not short. That is the time to show your sexiness. LoL.
As for the everyday life, you are FREE. Get it? FREE from senior, FREE from warden (even if they have felo as warden in matriculation, they are useless, not functioning at all), and you can do anything you want, all on you. If you want to go for riadah petang, you can play till anytime you want. Eating time? Up to you. Anytime you want, as long as the cafe is open. Your life inside the hostel is also FREE. You control your own life. When you want to study, when you want to sleep, when you want to eat, you control it.
But the freedom is just inside the hostel and college. In terms of going outside of the college, you can only dream about it. Process of going out from the college during school days, is a hard process. Even I never do that because it is very hard. But during weekends, it's easy. Just wear appropriate clothes, and scan your matric card at the gate and you are free to go anywhere you want. But it is limited only to 6pm. After 6, your outing will be banned for 2 weeks as a penalty for not being able to follow the rules to be back to the college by 6.

It is fun though to have many new friends.
There will also be many events held in the college throughout your studies. Me myself had became the MC for our weekend concerts and I even became the MC for huge events for example, the Malam Merdeka Raya and also fun events like KML Got Talent. If there are any events, just come, it's fun.

I am not going to talk about the studies, but all you need to know is, matriculation is different from a school. That means, lecturers are not going to give everything to you. You must study, ask and try in order to be successful.
I think that is all I can write about matriculation life. If you got any questions, just ask in the comment section below~ Love y'all!!!
